How It Works

Studying the University of London LLB with Blackstone

Distance learning involves the University, your teaching provider and your examination centre. Here is how the three fit together.

01

Register with the University of London

You apply to the University of London directly as an independent distance-learning student and pay their registration, module and examination fees to them. This is what makes you a University of London student.

02

Study with Blackstone

You enrol with us for live online classes, recordings, notes, solved past papers, mock exams and revision. We do not award your degree and we do not replace your University of London registration.

03

Sit your University of London examinations

You book your examinations through the University of London for the May or October sittings, at an approved centre or online where approved. The University of London marks your papers and awards your LLB.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Blackstone recognised in Canada?

No. Blackstone School of Law & Business is a teaching institution based in Lahore, Pakistan. We provide teaching support for the University of London LLB. We do not award degrees, we are not a Canadian educational institution, and we are not accredited, registered or recognised by any Canadian federal or provincial authority.

Who awards the degree?

The University of London awards the LLB. You register directly with the University of London as an independent distance-learning student and sit University of London examinations. Blackstone provides the teaching, notes, past-paper work and exam preparation that sit alongside that registration.

Can I practise law in Canada with a University of London LLB?

A University of London LLB is a foreign law degree in Canada. Graduates normally apply to the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada for an assessment, complete any required examinations, and then apply to a provincial or territorial law society for licensing. Requirements are set by those bodies and can change, so confirm the current position with the NCA and your provincial law society before enrolling.

Where do I sit my exams?

University of London examinations are held in May and October. They are sat at approved examination centres worldwide, including centres in Canada, and online examinations are approved in many countries. You book your examination arrangements through the University of London when you enter for examinations. Blackstone does not host or invigilate your examinations.

How much does it cost compared with other Canadian LLB tutors?

Our Year 1 bundle is CAD 3,200 against CAD 5,000 plus HST for the closest comparable Canadian provider, and our single subject is CAD 950 against CAD 1,500 plus HST. Structured notes, solved past papers and the Exam Cram course are included with every subject rather than charged as add-ons.

Do I have to pay University of London fees as well?

Yes. University of London registration, module and examination fees are paid directly to the University of London and are separate from anything you pay Blackstone. Current University of London fees are published on the University of London website.

What if I have already started my LLB?

You can join at any year and buy only the subjects you need. Many students take a full year bundle for their first year with us and then buy single subjects for resits or weaker papers.
