ACCA Qualification

The ACCA Qualification is a well-known accounting qualification. To become a qualified chartered certified accountant you need the following:

1. 13 exams (exemption can be claimed in nine exams)
2. Three years' relevant practical experience requirements
3. An Ethics and Professional Skills module

With over 486,000 students and 200,000 members in 180 countries, the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest and fastest-growing international accountancy body. More people than any other international body qualify in-country with ACCA. Employers, governments, and the profession all value the ACCA's reputation and influence. In the U.K., ACCA-qualified members can work as registered auditors and work on insolvency matters.

ACCA offers three core qualifications:

• A Professional Qualification enabling members to reach the highest level in accountancy - (ACCA)

• A Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting which is centered on the needs of employers for practical, professional accounting - BSc (Hons)

• A Master in Professional Accountancy designed to broaden business understanding and enhance strategic decision-making - (MSc)

Entry Routes for ACCA: ACCA Foundation Diploma

The new ACCA Foundation Diploma consists of seven exams and the Foundations in Professionalism online module:

• FA1 – Recording Financial Transactions

• MA1 – Management Information

• FA2 – Maintaining Financial Records

• MA2 – Managing Costs and Finance

• FBT – Foundations in Business and Technology

• FMA – Management Accounting

• FFA – Financial Accounting

To gain the Foundation Diploma and be eligible for the ACCA Qualification you must pass all seven exams and then complete the Foundations in Professionalism online module.

The knowledge gained by completing FA1 and MA1, then FA2 and MA2 will give you the essential knowledge you need to pass FBT, FMA, and FFA. Therefore, we strongly recommend students take FA1 and MA1 before moving on to FA2 and MA2, and finally to FBT, FMA, and FFA. Having the right building blocks in place will ensure you have every chance of success in the Foundation Diploma and in at the ACCA Qualification if you choose to continue your studies.

You pay for your fees as you go along, so there are no big upfront costs. The Foundation Diploma is a lower-cost alternative to University, and you can study and work at the same time. You can be transferred free of charge onto the ACCA Qualification once you’ve completed it, with free exemptions for the Applied Knowledge exams.

Standard Entry Route
Two passes at GCE A Levels and three at GCSE/GCE O Level in 5 subjects, including English and Mathematics.

Academic Calendar and Subjects

Required Experience

1. Students must complete at least 9 performance objectives (5 essential + 4 technical).
2. You will need to gain relevant, supervised practical work experience in addition to passing exams.
3. You can gain practical experience before, during, or after completing your exams, but ACCA strongly advises that you gain your experience concurrently with or shortly after sitting your exams.
4. You must demonstrate workplace effectiveness and achievement by meeting 13 predefined performance objectives that are overseen and agreed upon by a workplace mentor.
5. Complete at least three years of relevant practical experience.
6. In My Experience on my ACCA, enter your Practical Experience Requirement (PER).

Oxford Brookes University Degree

The Oxford Brookes BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting is a well-regarded qualification based on practical, professional, and employer-driven accounting requirements. It allows students to demonstrate that they have not only mastered the knowledge required for the degree, but also the key skills required by graduate employers.

ACCA has forged a unique partnership with Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom. This beneficial initiative allows students to study for an Oxford Brookes BSc Honors degree in Applied Accounting while also taking their ACCA exams.

Students who are eligible for the degree must complete the ACCA qualification's Applied Skills Level, the online ethics and professional skills module (EPSM), and demonstrate their research, analysis, interpersonal, and IT skills by completing a Research Project.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan recognizes the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University as equivalent to a three-year bachelor’s degree.
