01 / About the awards

A national standard of professional distinction.

The Pakistan Distinguished Lawyers Awards have been established to recognise exceptional members of Pakistan’s legal community whose work reflects professional excellence, leadership, integrity and service.

Recipients are selected following a national nomination, verification and independent review process. This is recognition based on merit and professional contribution—not a public popularity competition.

For sustained contribution to rights, access to justice or public service.

For meaningful contribution to legal teaching, scholarship or professional training.

Measured. Independent. Confidential.

NOMINATION

Nominations are submitted through the official PDLA nomination process.

VERIFICATION

The PDLA Secretariat reviews nominations for eligibility and verifies relevant information.

INDEPENDENT REVIEW

Eligible nominations are considered by an independent Awards Jury.

SELECTION & RECOGNITION

One recipient is selected for each award. Selected honorees are informed confidentially in advance.

There is no public voting.

Questions about the process.

Who may nominate?

Nominations are open nationally. A colleague, law firm, organisation, university, bar member, client or another member of the legal community may nominate.

Are self-nominations permitted?

Yes, except for the Lifetime Achievement in Law Award. Self-nominations are not accepted in that category.

Does public voting decide the awards?

No. There is no public voting. Substantive claims may be independently verified and eligible nominations are considered by an independent Awards Jury.

Do multiple nominations help?

No. Multiple nominations for the same individual do not increase their chances of selection.

When are recipients informed?

Selected recipients are contacted confidentially before the ceremony. Submission does not guarantee an award, and the Awards Jury’s decision is final.

Recipients are selected by an independent jury comprising distinguished members of the legal profession, academia and related fields.

Jury profiles

Photographs, names, positions and biographies will be added here as jury members are confirmed.

Jury members must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and recuse themselves where appropriate.
