Course Description: A writ can be filed before the High Court or Supreme Court in case of infringement of the fundamental rights under Article 199 & Article 184(3) of the constitution of The Islamic Republic of Pakistan respectively. This course will look into the questions of: when is the remedy of writ available, who can file the writ and what is a writ petition. Although there are several different types of writ petitions available; however, in this course we will focus on 1. Habeas Corpus 2. Mandamus 3. Prohibition 4. Certiorari 5. Quo Warranto. The course will also cover case studies and sample writ drafting.
