Irfan Mahmood - CEO
Blackstone Law College has a simple mission and that is to replace traditional education with 21st-century education in Pakistan.Blackstone Law is unique because it takes education beyond the traditional setting of a lecture and provides inquiry-based teaching in a Self-Organized Learning Environment (SOLE). We utilize Flipped Classroom methodology where our classroom are a place of collaborative research, problem-solving and presenting solutions to issues. Outside of classroom, we provide 24 hours support through our freely available lectures on YouTube as we believe in open access. The goal is to create an environment in which students can acquire a set of competencies, so when they enter the workforce they are ready to take on real world challenges. We have an amazing faculty of people who are not only passionate about education but are also fully capable of bringing about this change in education.
Blackstone Law College started out as Sir William Blackstone Institute of Law in Monterey, California. Initially, we offered online coaching to University of London students from around the world. We taught students from all seven continents! Second year into this project, we recorded hundreds of lectures of law lectures for students so they can learn on the go. Our passion to help students and our love for teaching gave birth to Blackstone Law College which offers face-to-face classes in Lahore, Pakistan. The College campus is under construction on Barki Road, Lahore, only 15-20 minutes away from DHA. The college will provide a learning environment for law students and will enable them to learn by working in groups, doing research, applying law to real world problems, creating content for other law students, and connecting with students around the world. We offer a one-of-a-kind Work-Study curriculum through which we bridge the gap between education and career. Our curriculum ensures that our students are all-set to launch their careers successfully by the end of the program and in addition receive an LL.B. degree from University of London or Northumbria University. We, along with our students, will build our strong Blackstone Law & Business community!
Most recently I have worked with University of California San Francisco as a Senior Business Analyst. University of California San Francisco has produced many Nobel Laureates (UCSF Nobel Prize Winners) and is one of the most innovative medical institution in the United States. I was hired as a consultant by the School of Medicine to facilitate the launch of the Bridges Curriculum. The curriculum helps prepare 21st century doctors and is very complex (in a good way!) compared to any other curriculum currently taught to medical students. I helped the assessment, curriculum, evaluation, and technology teams to develop business models, guided them in designing complex processes around those models, collected business requirements, designed solutions, implemented strategy, and worked closely with the school leadership to prioritize Bridges Curriculum projects. The Work-Study curriculum taught at Blackstone Law College is inspired by the Bridges Curriculum (University of California San Francisco - School of Medicine).
