Why are we called Blackstone

Did you know that Sir William Blackstone was the first person to advocate the use of common law in England and Wales? He lectured the public on the benefits of common law and authored the first book on common law titled "Commentaries on the Laws of England". The Commentaries are regarded as the leading work on the development of English law and played a critical role in developing the American legal system. We honour the incredible legacy of Sir William Blackstone by adopting his name for our institution. Common law is now the predominant legal system around 40 countries in the modern world.

Mr. Jinnah on Women’s Empowerment

Blackstone celebrates the birthday of our dear founding father, Mr Jinnah. We pledge to upholds the values of our leader with full sanctity and pride, from his speech in Lahore at Jinnah Islamia College for Women on 25th March 1940;

"I have always maintained that no nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take with them their women.

No struggle can ever succeed without women ever participating side by side with men. There are two powers in the world. One is represented by the sword and the other by the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two. There is a third power stronger than both. That is the woman.

...But I do mean that man must be made to understand and made to feel that woman is his equal and that woman is his friend and comrade and they together can build up homes, families and the nations."

“Remember that the scrupulous maintenance and enforcement of law and order are the prerequisites of all progress.”

What do you think is the future: individual sovereign nations or individuals like you with a world-citizenship?

Did you know that the sovereign political theory started with Thomas Hobbes who developed the idea that the government ruled effectively by law is the only bulwark against anarchy? He argued that sovereign and absolutist national states compete against each other for power and influence. In opposition to Hobbes, Immanuel Kant develops a theory of cosmopolitan right in which state sovereignty is matched with a gradually developing world federation of peaceful states. Similarly, Kant opposes Hobbes’s self-centred moral theory with a moral theory which is based on the individual self and the world community.

why we need laws?

One of the strongest arguments were laid out by the English philosopher John Locke in favor of the need of a robust legal system. “...the end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom...where there is no law, there is no freedom: for liberty is, to be free from restraint and violence from others; which cannot be, where there is no law: but freedom is not, as we are told, a liberty for every man to do what he lists...”
