10 STEPS TO UPDATE YOUR LAWYER LINKEDIN PROFILE FOR 2022

If you’re enrolled in a 3 Year LLB (Hons) Program and plan to pursue the legal profession, networking is going to be your lifesaver when it comes to building PR. LinkedIn is one of the most popular professional social media platforms which allows you to connect globally with people in the legal profession, it not only strengthens your professional relations but it also helps you find a job or connect with people if you want to recruit, it also opens up new opportunities for you.

If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, please stop living in the stone age and make yourself one but if you do already have an account connect with as many people as you can. Here’s how you can update your profile to get recognition in the legal field:

1. Education

Only mentioning your degree is doing you no good, you need to mention your law school name along with its affiliation with universities abroad. .

2. Co- Curricular Activities

Mention the co-curricular activities you were active in your law school, like mooting, research projects, debating and other achievements you received in your student life.

3. Skills

Post about the skills you have recently learned, it can be drafting, mediation training and any workshops you have attended.

4. Experience

Keep your experience tab updated. Mention your role, duties and the areas of expertise, achievements and promotions you received during the course of employment. Also, mention if you are currently working or your time period of employment.

Add another tab and put the recent licenses you have received and certifications.

Ask for recommendations on your profile from your peers and seniors.

A well written summary is an eye catcher, make sure you advertise your skills in the right way.

Put up a professional picture, don’t upload filters or edited selfies. Also, make sure your picture is recent and not a picture from 10 years ago.

9. Posts

Be active in posting your achievements, your work done, cases that you worked on and won. It keeps your followers updated about you and opens new opportunities for you

Add your email address that you would use actively and respond to your messages so you don’t miss out any opportunity.
